Jagmeet Singh is a prominent Canadian politician who has gained widespread recognition for his progressive policies and charismatic leadership. Born in Scarborough, Ontario to immigrant parents from Punjab, India, Singh was raised with a strong understanding of the struggles faced by marginalized communities and the importance of fighting for social justice. He later went on to study biology at McMaster University and received his law degree from York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School.
Singh’s political career began when he was elected as a member of the Ontario legislature in 2011, representing the riding of Bramalea-Gore-Malton. During his time in provincial politics, Singh advocated for issues such as workers’ rights, affordable housing, and education. In 2017, he made history by becoming the first person of Sikh faith to be elected as the leader of a major federal political party in Canada, the New Democratic Party (NDP).

Singh has also been a vocal advocate for addressing systemic racism and inequality, using his platform to bring attention to these important issues.
